In a square fuse-bead pattern, each grid cell represents one bead. Increasing a pattern from 29 to 58 beads wide doubles the width but can increase the total bead positions by roughly four times when the height grows proportionally.

Choose the smallest size that preserves the subject's silhouette and important features. Extra resolution is useful only when you have enough boards, beads, workspace, and time to complete it.

Estimate the real project scale

The final physical size depends on the bead system you use. Measure the center-to-center peg spacing on your board, then multiply it by the number of bead positions across the pattern. This is more reliable than using a generic conversion because bead systems vary.

Leave additional working space around the board for bead containers, pattern pages, and safe iron movement. Large projects also need a flat cooling area that will not be disturbed.

Match detail to the viewing distance

Small patterns work best with bold shapes, limited colors, and high contrast. Faces, text, thin outlines, and gradients need more bead positions to remain readable. A pattern intended for a wall can be larger and viewed from farther away; a keychain design needs a simpler silhouette.

Budget beads before placing them

Use the generated material list rather than multiplying width by height. Empty background cells do not need beads, and the exact color distribution determines whether one bag is enough. Keep a small reserve for dropped or damaged beads and future repairs.
